Description
Battle Run Golf Course is a new private golf club being constructed on the East Side of Lincoln, NE. The golf course is being designed by David McClay Kidd design firm and construction is being preformed by Golf Landscapes and Landscapes Unlimited. The course features include:- 25-30 Acres of RTF Fescue Rough
-60 Acres of 365SS Low Mow Bluegrass Fairways and Tees
-10 Acres of Centennial Bentgrass in Greens and Greens Surrounds
The golf course will have a state-of-the-art Rainbird two wire irrigation system with Cirrus Pro Software controls and a Watertronics pumpstation. The course is being constructed with a USGA spec greens mix and Fairways and rough are being capped with 9 inches of sand prior to planting. A majority of the fairways and roughs will be sodded and some of the holes constructed in 2025 have been all seeded. Bunkers will be lined with Capillary Concrete with a USGA approved Bunker Sand. The golf holes will be surrounded with an established Native blend of Buffalograss, Side Oats Gramma, and Little Bluestem with wildflower mix integrated.
The operation is in search for a motivated superintendent to operate under the Director of Agronomy. We are looking for a Assistant or Senior Assistant that has had Grow In Experience and is looking to move up in the field and display what they have learned at previous grow in operations. Hoping to have someone that has at least 5-6 years as an assistant in golf maintenance operations. After completion of the grow in, the Superintendent will be influential and possess the responsibility of running the day to day operation under the Director of Agronomy.
Education and Experience
- Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in related field, higher preferred
- At least 5-6 years experience as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent or Golf Course Superintendent
Essential Job Functions
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Directs and implements the policies and procedures established by Dormie Network.
- Supervises and manages the upkeep of the golf course property which includes the course, maintenance equipment, golf car fleet, recreation facilities, open spaces, wooded areas, and unused acreage.
- Supervises the crews completing the maintenance and project work for the course. Assists with manual labor associated with maintenance and project work as necessary.
- Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment; supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment; supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
-Hires and trains department staff on procedures and processes.
-Possess an understanding of the game of golf
-Monitors compliance with departmental purchasing policies and procedure
-Monitors the scheduling of all maintenance operations and directs work of the staff team members within the Department
-Adheres to Dormie Network policies and procedures
-Must be well groomed at all times while on property
-Must be well mannered, display a smile at all times, greet guest, members, and fellow employees when encountered, show appreciation to the guests and the members, and demonstrate a willingness to help guests and members at all times
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Requires working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, greens; the seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; the planting, cultivation, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps, and automatic controls
- Requires a high degree of administrative and management ability, especially in terms of problem solving and decision making

- Requires knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations.
- Ability to operate and maintain tools and machines associated with the upkeep of the golf course

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
- Oversee daily operation of department.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Able to walk and maneuver on uneven surface.
- Able to bend, crouch, stretch, push, pull and move as needed to utilize machinery and equipment.
- Must be able to visually inspect machinery, materials and course quality.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to drive local machinery, if licensed.
- Able to communicate with others.
- Able to operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator or printer.
Grow In Period Requirements
- Schedule during the Grow In is 60-65 hours a week.
-Ability to operate skid loader, mini ex, laser, and other construction equipment will be a major positive
- Rainbird Irrigation Experience is a positive
