Overview

Mayacoo Lakes was designed by Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead in 1971, making Mayacoo Lakes one of the first courses designed by Jack Nicklaus. Soon after the club opened in 1972, Mayacoo Lakes was rated in the top 100 by Golf Digest-the first of many awards the club would receive. In 2007, the golf course underwent a major renovation project, ultimately leading Mayacoo Lakes to win Golf Digest's "America's Best New Course-Best New Remodeled Category" Award in 2008. Mayacoo Lakes boasts over 325 members and takes pride in having a fun and very challenging golf course. The Club has been a regular host to the PGA TOUR Monday Qualifier for the Honda Classic as well as a host site for many USGA Qualifiers and FSGA Championships. The course and practice facilities will be undergoing a renovation/restoration project beginning in April of 2027 lead by architect, Kipp Schulties.

Experience Required

PGA Level 2 or higher preferred.

Essential Responsibilities

-Assist the Head Golf Professional and all golf staff employees with managing and overseeing all elements of the Club's golf-related activities resulting in an exceptional overall golf experience for members and their guests
-Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf operation management and golf instruction
-Works with the Head Golf Professional on all facets of the tournament program
-Must be well versed in Golf Genius, Jonas POS software, USGA GHIN system and Office programs (Excel, Word, Publisher)
-Works directly with the Head Golf Professional and Golf Shop Manager to maintain a first class golf shop
-Daily opening and closing responsibilities in the golf shop
-Assist in all facets of Hard Goods Program/Soft Goods Program
-Assist in placing Special orders and receiving goods on a daily basis
-Men's, Women's, Mixed and Junior Clinic programming
-Play with members on a regular basis
-Possess a personality trait that will make members feel welcome
-Maintain professional expertise through related courses and learning opportunities
-Be a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
-Self-motivated with desire to promote the golf program
-Maintain a high level of visibility and interaction with both Members and Guests
-Promote and support all golf activities at Mayacoo Lakes Country Club
-Official 2026-2027 Season is November 1, 2026 - March 28, 2027. Start and finish dates can be discussed. This position would be able to move to their other Club in the middle or end of March if needed. The ideal candidate would begin around October 15.
