The Club

Illahe Hills Country Club offers a championship golf experience in a grand, serene setting. Designed by renowned architect William Bell and opened in 1961, our traditional layout is framed by a majestic backdrop of trees and remains uniquely free from residential development. Supported by an active golf and social membership, the club maintains an intimate atmosphere, historically recording under 20,000 rounds annually.

Illahe Hills has a storied history of hosting USGA Championships and major regional events. The course is widely recognized for featuring some of the purest putting surfaces in the Northwest-a testament to the work of our industry-leading Superintendent, Steven Beyer. The Opportunity

The successful candidate joins Illahe Hills at a pivotal moment. The Club is poised for significant growth, including an anticipated clubhouse remodel that will feature a reimagined Golf Shop. This facility upgrade follows years of consistent capital investment into the member experience; recent course improvements include a total bunker overhaul, the redesign of hole 15, the addition of new tee boxes to enhance playability for all skill levels, and ongoing drainage and tree management projects.

Our practice facilities are among the best in the region, featuring a full-length driving range, a dedicated short hole, a practice putting green, and a comprehensive chipping and bunker complex. Complementing these is our Golf Performance Center, providing year-round training and high-tech engagement via a Full Swing Golf simulator. Additionally, "The Mound", our expansive family putting green, offers a unique social experience that can be configured for up to 18 holes of play, perfect for family entertainment.

Beyond the fairways, Illahe Hills is a true lifestyle destination. We offer a full-service clubhouse with premier member dining and private event spaces, a swimming pool with a splash area, bocce ball, tennis, fitness facilities, and a rapidly growing pickleball program.

The Position

The Head Professional (HP) serves as the "Mayor of Golf" at Illahe Hills. This is a high-visibility leadership role requiring a mix of business acumen, exceptional service standards, and a passion for player development. The HP operates with significant autonomy while collaborating closely with the General Manager/COO, Board of Directors, and Golf Committee.

You will lead a team of 10-18 staff members, ensuring that the "Illahe Experience" is consistent from the bag drop to the final putt. Successful candidates will be expert communicators who can bridge the gap between high-level course conditions and an active, engaged membership.

Experience Required

• PGA Class A Member in good standing.
• Experience: 3+ years as a Head Professional or a Senior Assistant at a premier private facility.
• Tech Savvy: Advanced proficiency in Golf Genius, modern Point of Sale (POS) systems, and launch monitor technology (Trackman/GCQuad).
• EQ: High emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate a diverse membership and lead a large team with poise.
• Vision: A track record of developing new revenue streams through innovative golf programming and retail strategies.

Essential Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor a member-centric team. Establish a culture of "anticipatory service" where staff recognize members by name and anticipate their needs.
• Tournament & Event Mastery: Execute a robust calendar, including prestigious member-guest tournaments (RPI), social "Hit-n-Giggles," and outside group events, utilizing Golf Genius to ensure professional, seamless delivery.
• Retail & Merchandising: Oversee all aspects of the Golf Shop. Drive revenue through creative merchandising, custom fitting programs, and disciplined inventory management, maintaining a COGS of 78% or lower.
• Player Development: Lead a comprehensive instruction program that caters to all demographics. A particular focus will be placed on growing the Junior Golf program to be the premier offering in the Central Willamette Valley.
• Brand Ambassador: Represent Illahe Hills within the PGA (Chapter and Section) and the local community. Foster relationships with local media and amateur golf associations.
• Financial Stewardship: Partner with the GM to develop and monitor the annual golf operations budget and provide timely financial reporting.

Illahe Hills offers a competitive package designed to attract and retain a top-tier professional.

• Base Salary: 100,000 - $115,000 (Commensurate with experience).
• Instruction Income: 100% of individual and group lesson fees (Estimated at 8,000 - $15,000+ annually).
• Total Anticipated Compensation: 115,000 - $135,000+.
• Insurance: Comprehensive Health, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance for the Professional and their family.
• Retirement: Eligibility for the Club's Simple IRA/401k per Club policy.
• Professional Development: Full coverage of PGA Dues, reimbursement for approved education/PGA Show travel, and entry fees for up to 12 Oregon Chapter Pro-Ams.
