Description
OverviewThe Head Golf Professional is responsible for promoting the game of golf and creating an exceptional experience for members and guests at the club. This role delivers outstanding customer service, oversees golf shop operations, and manages golf-related activities. The Head Golf Professional collaborates with the management team to drive revenue growth through innovative programming, member engagement initiatives, and high-quality instruction. This position requires a deep passion for golf, strong leadership skills, and the ability to foster a positive environment that encourages participation, enjoyment, and a sense of community among members and guests.
Experience Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in golf operations and customer service, with a strong commitment to enhancing the member experience.
- PGA or LPGA Professional Certification is mandatory.
- College degree in a related field preferred.
- Direct financial management and budget responsibility experience preferred.
- Ability to handle confidential company information and sensitive employee matters with discretion and professionalism preferred.
- Commitment to upholding the highest level of ethical work standards preferred.
Essential Responsibilities
- Deliver efficient and friendly customer service across all areas of the pro shop, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience for members and guests.
- Provide high-quality golf instruction to members and guests in accordance with Invited and PGA/LPGA standards.
- Develop and promote golf clinics, private lessons, and programs for adults, juniors, and seniors.
- Promote the game of golf and the club through professionalism, service, and engagement.
- Build strong relationships with members through committees, clinics, personalized lessons, and playing rounds with members and guests.
- Create and manage an annual golf calendar of activities and events to enhance the member experience.
- Establish and achieve sales and instruction goals in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and oversee golf revenue strategies, marketing initiatives, and net revenue plans in line with budgeting and revenue guidelines.
- Supervise outside golf operations including marshals, starters, and golf shop attendants.
- Lead golf shop operations by training, motivating, and conducting regular staff meetings.
- Manage golf operations staff including recruiting, hiring, performance evaluations, and development.
- Build a service excellence team that understands the relationship between value, member satisfaction, and member retention.
- Plan, promote, and execute tournaments and special golf events, coordinating across operations including Food & Beverage.
- Oversee event promotion, scheduling, execution, and post-event wrap-up.
- Ensure staff are properly trained and consistently follow club guidelines and procedures, especially regarding closing business functions.
