Overview

Harbour Pointe Golf Club in New Bern, NC is seeking a motivated Head Golf Professional to contribute to a positive experience for members and guests while continuing to grow their knowledge of golf club operations. The role oversees golf operations and supports a service-oriented environment within a Troon-managed facility.

Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be a PGA member.
• Experience with computerized POS and tee time system.
• Experience with Golf Genius software.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Essential Responsibilities

• Oversee golf operations including tournaments, rules, tee sheet activity, merchandise inventory, range operations, player service operations, cart fleet, and assist with supervising other club operations as needed.
• Assist in the development and day-to-day tracking of the budget and business plan and help control expenses in relation to revenues.
• Create a customer service-oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets the needs of members while ensuring associates provide a high level of customer service.
• Work closely with the Superintendent and Food and Beverage Manager to ensure timely communication and a strong working relationship.
• Prepare work schedules and assign associates areas of responsibility.
• Manage data capture and data collection of golfing guests and potential customers utilizing Troon Rewards and other club-defined processes.
• Perform payroll tasks as scheduled, make adjustments prior to submitting to payroll, and monitor hours to maximize productivity and minimize overtime.
• Provide leadership and vision to golf staff, developing team members and preparing them for career advancement.
• Provide golf instruction through lessons and clinics to members and guests.
• Interview, hire, train, plan, assign, and direct work; evaluate performance; reward and discipline associates; address complaints; and resolve problems.
• Manage department team members including Assistant and Associate Golf Professionals, Teaching Professionals, Tournament Coordinator, and Guest Services Attendants.
• Ensure effective orientation and training for each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
• Monitor business volume forecasts and plan accordingly for manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
• Implement and maintain excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.
• Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as required.
