Job Summary:

Fairways and Greens Golf Center , recognized as one of the Top 50 Stand-Alone Practice Facilities in America, is seeking an energetic and passionate Golf Course Superintendent to lead the agronomic operation at one of the country's premier golf practice destinations. This is an outstanding opportunity for a hands-on turf professional who takes pride in exceptional playing conditions and enjoys working in a unique, customer-focused golf environment.

The 25-acre privately owned facility includes a variety of outdoor practice amenities, including lighted, outdoor 419 Bermuda turf practice range tees and landing area; six (6) bentgrass surfaces, including 2 putting, 1 chipping, and 3 practice course greens; and 3 sand bunkers.

The successful candidate will report to the General Manager and join a collaborative leadership team that values professionalism, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance

• Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic programs for turfgrass health.
• Oversee daily maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and practice facilities.
• Schedule and supervise mowing, fertilization, irrigation, aerification, topdressing, and pest management.
• Monitor course conditions and adjust maintenance practices based on weather, play, and seasonal demands.
• Ensure practice area setup meets established standards for daily use and enjoyment.

Irrigation and Water Management

• Manage and maintain the golf course irrigation system.
• Monitor water usage and irrigation scheduling for optimum turf health and water conservation.
• Diagnose and coordinate repairs to irrigation equipment and infrastructure.

Personnel Management

• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate maintenance staff.
• Develop daily work schedules and assign responsibilities.
• Promote a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
• Foster employee development through ongoing training.

Equipment and Facilities

• Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair of golf course equipment with the equipment manager or mechanic.
• Oversee maintenance facilities, chemical storage, and maintenance compounds.
• Ensure proper inventory and storage of fertilizers, chemicals, fuels, and supplies.

Budget and Administration

• Prepare and manage the annual operating and capital budgets.
• Monitor expenditures and control costs while maintaining quality standards.
• Maintain accurate records of labor, equipment usage, chemical applications, and maintenance activities.
• Purchase supplies and equipment in accordance with approved budgets.

Communication

• Work closely with the General Manager and business leadership.
• Communicate course conditions, maintenance schedules, and project updates.
• Coordinate course preparation for tournaments and special events.
• Respond professionally to members' and guests' concerns regarding course conditions.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Education : 2-year degree or certificate in Turf Management or related field; certification from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America preferred
• Experience : 3-5 years of experience in golf course maintenance and turf management
• Technical Skills : Knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest and weed control, and willingness to adopt new technology and practices
• Licenses : Valid driver's license and pesticide application license
• Soft Skills : Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and team-building abilities
