OverviewGENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION
The golf course superintendent is a self-driven highly motivated individual that can demonstrate strong leadership skills to effectively lead their team. This person will be responsible for the care, operations, and maintenance of the golf course grounds and equipment.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Turf Management, Agronomy or related field; Associate's Degree or Turf Certificate will be considered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
- Interview, hire, and train employees
- Properly maintain the golf course, clubhouse grounds, and surrounding areas.
- Maintains the inventory needed to maintain the courses; purchases equipment,orders necessary supplies and oversees the equipment maintenance programs.
- Instructs staff in proper equipment use and work methods to ensure safety standards are met.
- Chemical/fertilizer application to the greens, tees, and fairways. (Must be licensed to spray.)
- Responsible for maintenance and repair to all turf equipment.
- Responsible for all irrigation repairs and scheduling.
- Tree trimming and planting.
- Ensures that staffing levels are maintained to meet business demand.
- Keeps accurate records on maintenance procedures, pesticide applications,labor hours, etc.
- Assists in the yearly operating budget for the golf course.
- Provides daily leadership and guidance to all grounds team members.
- Communicates with the clubhouse manager regarding course conditions, tournament setup, range cutting etc.
- Responsible for regulatory reporting as required.
- Reviews payroll reports for accurate work hour totals and makes adjustments when needed.
- Supervise the receiving of equipment and supplies.
- Must have computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Provide leadership and promote harmony and unity within the department.
- All other duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervise maintenance grounds employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hand tofinger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, taste and smell. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of thosean employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and the employee is occasionally required to perform job responsibilities in the outdoors and off site.
