Description
OverviewAquia Harbour Property Owners Association is seeking a motivated and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and operation of our scenic 9-hole golf course.
The Superintendent is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising all golf course maintenance activities, including turf management, irrigation, pesticide applications, equipment oversight, and staff supervision. The position works closely with Association management to maintain a high-quality playing experience while operating within approved budgets.
Experience Required
Education, Experience & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 3 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with specific expertise in turf management and horticulture.
- State certification as a commercial pesticide applicator.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials used in grounds and landscape maintenance.
- Ability to operate motorized vehicles and equipment.
- Familiarity with maintenance equipment such as lawnmowers, aerators, etc.
- Ability to follow both oral and written instructions accurately.
- Proficiency in Internet Software, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, and working in varying weather conditions.
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call hours.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and procedural documents.
- Ability to write reports and communicate effectively with staff, customers, and management.
Essential Responsibilities
Planning and Maintenance Management:
- Develop and implement maintenance and project plans, utilizing agronomic and administrative expertise to meet long-term goals and maintain the golf course grounds.
Staff and Resource Management:
- Interview, hire, train, and supervise a maintenance team. Manage staffing levels and directly oversee the performance, discipline, and termination of employees as needed.
- Schedule, route, and manage personnel and equipment to accomplish daily maintenance tasks efficiently.
Course Inspections and Record Keeping:
- Conduct frequent inspections of the golf course and related areas to ensure management standards are being met and adjust programs as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records on payroll, inventory, weather data, pesticide applications, and maintenance procedures.
Construction and Renovation Oversight:
- Oversee the construction, renovation, or reconstruction of course areas, collaborating with maintenance staff or external contractors as required.
Budgeting and Financial Oversight:
- Prepare annual budgets for golf course maintenance and capital improvements, aligning with long-range goals and maintenance standards.
- Approve all expenditures and implement cost-saving measures to maintain the operational and capital expenses within approved budget limits.
Collaboration:
- Regularly communicate with the Pro Shop Manager to align activities, goals, and address member/customer feedback.
- Work collaboratively with other maintenance staff, contractors, and vendors.
- Provide exceptional customer service to residents and POA members.
