Description
OverviewThis is a new position to assist with the grow-in and opening of a new Par 3 golf course starting construction in early summer 2026. The role supports a fast-paced, hospitality-focused property organization as part of Troon.
Experience Required
- A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in agronomy, horticulture, or plant/soil science with two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Valid Florida driver's license and satisfactory driving record to meet standards of insurability are required.
- Florida pesticide applicator's license is necessary.
- Ability to work outdoors in various climates.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
- Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
- Assist in the planning, organizing and direction of the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
- Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants.
- Ensure that maintenance equipment is properly operating and report issues appropriately to Equipment Managers.
- Assist in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
- Maintain records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with the preparation of required reports.
- Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
- Reconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll and other required documents.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations.
- Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations; address environmental concerns directly.
- Manage department members including Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
- Assure effective orientation and training are given to each new associate; develop ongoing training programs.
- Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
