Overview

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational execution, and financial performance of Atkinson Resort & Country Club. This role provides direct oversight of golf operations, food and beverage, facilities, maintenance, and administrative functions while ensuring an exceptional experience for members, guests, and the public. The GM serves as the senior on-site leader and primary liaison between Troon, ownership/board leadership, members, and the surrounding community.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, visible leader who balances strong hospitality instincts with financial discipline, team development, and operational accountability.

Directs and oversees all aspects of the club or facility including its activities and relationships between guests, associates, and community. Has the ultimate responsibility for maximum guest satisfaction and financial performance.

Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree (BA); or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Multi-course facilities may require more experience.
• CMAA member, GCSSA or PGA/LPGA membership preferred.
• Regularly stands, walks, and sits.
• Occasionally may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, taste, or smell.
• Regularly uses hands to finger, feel, or handle; reaches with arms and hands; talks or hears.
• Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions.
• Noise level is moderate.

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare and monitor the annual budget, revenue goals, and expenses, and generate business volume forecasts.
• Monitor financial reports and statements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and take corrective action when necessary.
• Establish and monitor personnel policies, training, and professional development programs.
• Ensure all Human Resources procedures and policies are followed by management staff.
• Develop, maintain, and administer a sound organizational plan and initiate improvements as necessary.
• Maintain membership with the PGA and CMAA and other professional associations, and attend workshops and meetings to stay current.
• Oversee the care and maintenance of all physical assets and facilities.
• Coordinate marketing programs to promote the facility's services to potential customers.
• Ensure the highest standards for food and beverage service on property.
• Implement policies and procedures for multiple departments, including compliance with company quality standards.
• Interview, hire, train, plan, assign, and direct work; evaluate performance; reward and discipline associates; address complaints and resolve problems.
• Directly manage department members including Head Professional(s), Golf Course Superintendent(s), Tournament Coordinator, Director of Instruction, and others.
• Assure effective orientation and training for each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
