Description
OverviewThe Director of Golf serves as the strategic and operational leader of all golf-related activities at Miramont Country Club. The position is responsible for delivering an exceptional golf experience for Members and guests through leadership of golf operations, instruction programs, tournaments, merchandising, staffing, budgeting and Member engagement initiatives. The Director of Golf works collaboratively with the General Manager, Director of Agronomy and other departments to ensure the golf operation aligns with the Club's mission, service standards, financial objectives and long-term strategic plan. The Director of Golf serves as a visible ambassador of the Club and actively cultivates Member relationships while promoting participation in golf programs and events.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years progressive leadership experience in private club golf operations.
- Experience managing golf budgets, tournaments, merchandising and personnel.
- Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams in a Member-focused environment.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills as well as strong financial and business acumen.
- Exceptional Member hospitality philosophy.
- Effective written & verbal communication skills as well as strong organizational & event management abilities.
- Ability to build relationships with Members, guests, team members and vendors.
- Proficiency with golf/club management software, POS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- PGA of America Class A Membership and valid TX Driver's License required.
Essential Responsibilities
GOLF OPERATIONS
→ Directs all day-to-day golf operations including tee sheet management, golf shop operations, valet and bag drop, practice facilities & golf course hospitality.
→ Establishes/enforces golf policies and procedures.
→ Oversees the golf cart fleet and private cart operations, club storage and bag room operations.
→ Ensures all golf facilities and assets are maintained in a safe, clean and Member-ready condition.
→ Steward vendor relationships to secure preferential Member purchase access and opportunities.
→ Plans, promotes and executes a comprehensive calendar of tournaments, leagues, Member events and Member-guest events.
→ Coordinates tournament operations with Agronomy, F&B, Housekeeping and Membership departments.
→ Ensures all tournament operations reflect the standards and image of Miramont Country Club.
→ Establishes and preserves key relationships and operations for recurring external tournaments.
LEADERSHIP & MEMBER EXPERIENCE
→ Ensures all components of the Mission, Vision and Values are being fulfilled in the golf department.
→ Provides visible and engaged leadership throughout all golf facilities.
→ Cultivates meaningful relationships with Members, guests and team members.
→ Ensures exceptional hospitality standards are consistently delivered.
→ Responds promptly and professionally to Member concerns and feedback.
→ Develops initiatives that increase Member participation and satisfaction.
→ Supports the Club's culture of hospitality, professionalism and excellence.
→ Utilizes a variety of communication to keep Members informed and connected.
→ Serve as an ambassador for Miramont at STPGA and other allied associations' events & functions.
GOLF INSTRUCTIONS & FINANCIALS
→ Oversees player development programs for adults, juniors and beginners.
→ Develops and expands player development programs that increase participation and revenue.
→ Supports competitive golf opportunities for Members of all skill levels.
→ Promotes junior golf and family golf programming.
→ Provides individual and group instruction.
→ Plays golf with a variety of Members and guests.
→ Develops annual operating and capital budgets.
→ Monitors revenues, expenses, payroll, inventory and departmental performance.
→ Establishes/achieves revenue goals related to golf operations, lessons, tournaments and sales.
→ Oversees all golf shop merchandising activities.
→ Develops merchandise buying plans and inventory strategies.
→ Maintains appropriate inventory levels and controls.
TEAM LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
→ Oversees recruiting, hiring, on-boarding and continual training of team members.
→ Establishes performance expectations and accountability measures.
→ Creates a positive, hospitality-oriented culture within the golf operation.
→ Develops future golf professionals and supports PGA professional development.
→ Conducts regular department & training sessions.
→ Fosters a safe work environment for the entire department and proactively finds methods for improvement and addresses safety hazards.
→ Serves as a member of the Club's Leadership Team and participates in strategic planning.
→ Supports Membership growth and retention.
→ Promotes the golf course, events, Club and Miramont lifestyle as a whole.
→ Assists with events and Club-wide initiatives.
