OverviewDirector of Golf - Two Rivers Country Club
Two Rivers Country Club is an upscale community based private club in Williamsburg, Virginia. The club offers an 18 hole championship golf course by Tom Fazio, green grass practice range and indoor golf simulator lounge, newly renovated waterfront clubhouse with formal, casual, and banquet dining, lighted tennis and pickleball courts, and a marina.
The role of the Director of Golf is a key position at Two Rivers Country Club. The incumbent must fully embrace the Club's Mission and Vision.
Mission: Two Rivers Country Club is a private, community-owned golf, racquet, boating, dining and social club operated for the recreation, pleasure and benefit of its members and their guests.
Vision: The Club exists to enhance the daily lives of all its members by providing first-class country club amenities and facilities in a comfortable, family-oriented environment in which our members can enjoy time spent with family and friends. Its mandate is to be a primary factor in making Governor's Land a perfect place to live.
Teamwork: The incumbent will actively participate in all Club activities. He/she will provide support and assistance to all departments as needed. They will serve as an example of excellence and professionalism to all employees and members.
The Director of Golf should serve as an example to all staff that every employee must be engaged in meeting or exceeding customer needs while building and growing the Club and its business. As such, the Director of Golf is always an ambassador to current and prospective members.
JOB SUMMARY
• Manage all golf and related activities and business (excluding golf course maintenance)
• Grows club revenue through building increased golfing memberships (dues), member usage (rounds), merchandise sales and special events
• Develops and promotes new golfer development programs
Experience Required
Qualifications
- College Degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience as Director of Golf or Head Professional at a private country club or notable golf facility
- Excellent interpersonal, teaching and sales skills
- PGA Member in good standing
Essential Responsibilities
Strategic Activities
- Acts proactively to build and promote the TRCC golf programs and golf related businesses
- Retains current and obtains new golf members via coordinated efforts with General Manager, Membership Director, Membership, Green and Golf Committees
- Works diligently to achieve the Club's long-term goal of targeting 325 golf members
- Improves and enhances golf member experience by:
- Introducing and executing effective teaching programs and club fitting techniques
- Actively participating in new member development and outreach programs
- Creating and implementing vibrant and robust golf events and tournament schedules
Key Responsibilities
- Plans and effectively promotes and directs all golf activities
- Provides written standards of performance and conducts formal written performance reviews on all direct reports at least annually, or as required
- Prepares annual capital and operating budgets for golf department operations
- Actively and creatively promotes merchandise sales and ensures budgeted goals are met
- Establishes and oversees the club's golfer development programs
- Creates, organizes and conducts Club tournaments and events
- Maintains close working relationship with Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent, and golf maintenance staff
- Plays golf regularly with members of all skill levels to generate program enthusiasm
- Attends sectional conferences and meetings, including merchandise shows, educational and professional shows to encourage development and enhance quality of the Club
- Maintains visibility in local golf community
- Conducts tours of the driving range offering players brief suggestions for improvement
- Manages the golf cart fleet and ensures that golf cart equipment is properly maintained
- Connects new golf members to the club and to other club members
- Manages golf professional staff, including development, measurement and training
- Provides golf-related information for Club's newsletter and website
