Description
Del Webb Sun City, located in Bluffton, SC, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Bartender in The Brackish Bar & Lounge! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you'll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.The Bartender provides courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient food and beverage service to residents and guests in a professional manner. This position is responsible for accurate order entry into the Toast Point of Sale system, proper cash handling, and maintaining inventory of liquor, wine, and beer within the assigned work area.
The Bartender uses their expertise to guide guests through an extensive beverage and food menu while supporting and educating service staff to ensure a consistent and high-quality dining experience. The bartenders will also provide high quality table side service.
This will be an hourly position with tips.
Pay: $22.00-$36.00 (Hourly + Tips)
Job Duties
- Provide prompt, courteous, and professional service to all guests at the bar and in the dining room.
- Effectively card all guests, in compliance with Texas state regulations and acceptable forms of identification.
- Take beverage and food orders, promote menu items and specials, and accurately enter all orders into the Micros POS system. Process credit card transactions, make correct change, and verify pricing accuracy.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all cocktails, mixed drinks, specialty beverages, and recipes in accordance with established standards. Mix and serve drinks consistently using proper techniques and standard recipes while maintaining ideal beverage cost.
- Demonstrate the ability to upsell premium liquor brands and specialty beverages.
- Maintain current and thorough knowledge of all beverage offerings, including liquor classifications (house, call, premium), beer styles (domestic, import, craft), wine
- selections, appropriate glassware, and garnishes.
- Maintain working knowledge of all food menu items and answer guest questions regarding ingredients, preparation methods, and accompaniments.
- Safely and effectively handle food allergies and dietary restrictions, ensuring clear communication with the kitchen, management, and guests in accordance with established procedures.
- Support and educate service staff on bar standards, proper glassware, garnishes, and correct POS entry. No beverages may be prepared without a printed ticket.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bar and service area, including cleaning, sanitizing, restocking, and properly storing all bar items.
- Complete all opening, ongoing, and closing duties according to daily checklists, including cleaning the bar, stocking ice, restocking liquor, beer, and wine, rolling silverware, and disposing of trash.
- Assist other staff members as needed to support efficient service.
- Follow all cash handling and register procedures, balancing the register at the beginning and end of each shift, securing all monies, and adhering to guest check policies.
- Pick up and deliver food according to established seat position standards, clear plates, and transport dirty dishes to the dish area following proper breakdown procedures.
- Requisition liquor, wine, and beer from designated storage areas in compliance with established procedures.
- Maintain working knowledge of beer, soda, and beverage systems, including the ability to change kegs, gas, and soda lines as needed.
- Demonstrate the ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining composure in a fast-paced environment.
- Observe and comply with all health department regulations and safety standards related to food and beverage service and storage.
- Communicate effectively in English with guests, coworkers, and management while maintaining positive interpersonal relationships.
- Keep management informed of operational issues, unusual situations, or guest concerns and take corrective action when appropriate.
- Maintain cooperative and respectful working relationships with coworkers, managers, and vendors to support a positive team environment.
- Represent the Brackish Bar & Lounge in a professional manner that supports its values and reputation.
- Calmly and professionally respond to dissatisfied guests and promptly notify management.
- Notify management of low inventory levels for glassware, paper products, liquor, and other bar supplies.
- Attend all pre-shift meetings and scheduled staff meetings on time and in proper uniform.
- Exercise sound independent judgment when responding to guest requests, engaging with guests, and determining when alcohol service should be limited or refused.
- Follow all alcohol awareness and responsible service procedures, including TIPS guidelines for preventing intoxication.
- Adhere consistently to tip-out, cash handling, and accounting procedures.
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude toward residents, guests, coworkers, and management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Education, Training, Knowledge, and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of bartending experience, including strong knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails.
- Knowledge of local and state alcohol service laws required.
- Must be ServSafe Food and Alcohol Certified or possess TIPS equivalent certification.

Work Environment
- This position operates in a general food service environment.
- The Bartender may be required to stand for up to ten (10) hours at a time and perform physical tasks including bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and carrying during the shift.
- The position may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
- This position may operate within a bright, sunlit environment and resultant exposure to UV is to be expected.
