Description
OverviewThe Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports to the Golf Course Superintendent and works under that position's direction to manage and oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance as well as other landscaping facilities on the property. The role supports a fast-paced, hospitality-focused operation and includes assisting with department policies, work assignment delegation, and maintenance operations.
Experience Required
- Enrolled in a Degree in Golf Management or Agronomy or 5 or more years related experience and/or training, or combination of education and experience.
- 5 years progressive experience as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
- Nevada Driver's License, current & valid.
- Nevada Pesticide Applicators License to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
- Able to communicate politely and professionally with guests, members, customers and fellow staff members.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Must have good knowledge of agronomics and the application of fertilizers and chemicals, and operation of sprayers and spreaders.
- Willingness and ability to work varied and flexible hours including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and scheduled club events.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in carrying out golf maintenance department policies.
- Assist in delegating work assignments and evaluating job performance in the golf course maintenance department.
- Work under supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent to support the golf maintenance budget.
- Assist in hiring, training, supervising, disciplining, and terminating employees within the department.
- Monitor operations of the golf maintenance department, including scheduling, agronomic concerns, employee safety, and equipment maintenance.
- Supervise the maintenance of the golf courses.
- Oversee completion of staff work assignments and assist with field decisions.
- Perform actual labor on the golf course as needed to demonstrate, assist, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Enforce safe working conditions and instruct staff on proper equipment use and work methods.
- Supervise special projects and labor crews as directed.
- Report golf course conditions and disciplinary issues to the Golf Course Superintendent or Director of Operations.
- Assist in staff scheduling and payroll processing for the department.
- Communicate verbally and through email with golf maintenance staff and other departments.
- Coordinate equipment and tool maintenance issues with the appropriate manager.
- Help administer the department through proper administrative procedures in accordance with corporate protocol and policies.
- Provide professional advice, opinions, assistance, and services for the betterment of the golf course.
- Assist in developing operating policies, preventative maintenance plans, fertilizer schedules, and course condition schedules.
- Help protect golf facility assets including facilities and equipment.
