The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent position is an integral component to the operations of the golf course. Under general supervision, is responsible for leading others in grounds maintenance work of considerable difficulty at a golf course, and performs related work as required. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent must be skilled in maintaining a variety of tools and equipment, including greens mowers, fairway mowers, tee mowers, chemical sprayers, spreaders, topdressing machines, soil aeration devices, and other vehicles. This is a supervisory position serving as the department manager in the Golf Course Superintendent's absence, responsible for the upkeep and care of a championship 18-hole golf course. Experience Required

Experience equivalent to two years of increasingly responsible and skilled full-time golf course maintenance work, including the care and maintenance of greens.

Essential Responsibilities

• Operates and utilizes a variety of tools and equipment such as greens mowers, fairway mowers, tee mowers, chemical sprayers, fertilizer spreaders, topdressing machines, soil aerification devices, skid steer loaders, backhoes, and light trucks.
• Train employees on new job assignments to ensure work is done safely and on time. Supervise employees and give feedback to help them improve their task completion.
• Assists with diagnosing and resolving issues such as but not limited to golf course and weather conditions, crew limitation, and disease pressure. Performs or assists in the renovation or addition of needed irrigation piping, heads, or wiring throughout the golf course.
• Assists with the planning and implementation of agronomic practices.
• Assists with personnel management, evaluation, employee safety, and disciplinary action as needed.
• Supervise the mowing of fairways, greens, tees, roughs, and other grounds maintenance. Lead and assist others in the aeration, topdressing, and fertilizing of greens and tees.
• Must be flexible during the golf season and work weekends and holidays as needed.
