Overview

Full-time Assistant Superintendent opportunity at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. The role is suited for a driven individual eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced, hospitality-focused property organization.

Experience Required

• Bachelors degree, Associates degree or equivalent from a four or two year college; 3-4 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to obtain Tennessee pesticide license within 6 months of employment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
• Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
• Assist in planning, organizing, and directing maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
• Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
• Ensure construction equipment is properly maintained.
• Assist in procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
• Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with preparation of required reports.
• Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
• Reconcile and provide timely coding of invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
• Coordinate snow removal depending upon facility location.
• Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
• Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations, and address environmental concerns directly.
• Manage department members including Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
• Provide effective orientation and training to each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
• Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
• Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
