Description
OverviewOversees the maintenance and construction of the golf course and ensures that turfgrass is repaired and maintained to established standards.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree (AA), or equivalent from a four-year or two-year college or technical school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to four years of related experience and/or training.
- Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Pesticide Application License.
- Ability to read and speak English.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Those with 4+ years of fulltime maintenance crew experience or foreman experience are encouraged to apply.
- Irrigation experience is helpful.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
- Supervise and assist maintenance staff with daily duties.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
- Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turfgrasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
- Ensure that construction equipment is properly maintained.
- Assist in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
- Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with the preparation of required reports.
- Follow sound purchasing procedures, utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
- Reconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
- Coordinate snow removal, depending on facility location.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
- Ensure associates obtain the proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and in accordance with regulations and address environmental concerns.
- Manage department members including Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
- Assure that effective orientation and training are provided to each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
- Monitor business volume forecasts and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Incorporate safe work practices into job performance.
