Position Overview
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent works directly with the Golf Course Superintendent in all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for helping oversee daily course conditioning, irrigation, personnel management, safety programs, and long-term agronomic planning.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing all golf course and grounds maintenance operations.
- Lead, train, schedule, and supervise maintenance staff.
- Monitor and maintain championship-level playing conditions.
- Assist with irrigation system management and repairs.
- Coordinate fertilizer, pesticide, and cultural practice programs.
- Support equipment, facility, and maintenance operation management.
- Maintain accurate records and regulatory compliance.
- Promote and enforce workplace safety standards.
- Collaborate with golf operations and club leadership to deliver an exceptional member experience.
- Assist in planning and executing short- and long-term agronomic goals.
Experience Requirements
Experience as an Assistant Superintendent or in a supervisory golf course maintenance role.
Knowledge of golf course agronomy, irrigation systems, and turf management practices.
Florida pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Passion for the game of golf and the pursuit of exceptional course conditions.
Educational Requirements
Degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or related field preferred.
Special Requirements
Licenses and Special Requirements
• Golf Course Superintendent Association of America (GCSAA)
• Pesticide Application certification.
• Valid driver's license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
• Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
• Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling.
