Golf Operations Specialist (Assistant Golf Professional)
(Base compensation: $28.18 - $38.58 Hourly)
Experience Required
Minimum Qualifications
At least two years of golf shop retail experience required.
Minimum of 1 year of golf instruction experiences in classes, clinics and program required.
Experience with tournament operations, knowledge of Golf Genius Tournament software desired.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
LICENSE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Washington driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Membership in the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) or completion of Level One of the Professional Golf Management Associates Program desired.
- Valid CPR and First Aid Cards.
ENVIRONMENT:
- Indoor, outdoor and shop work environment.
- Fumes, dust, pollen, and noise from equipment operation.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time to conduct business.
- Walking over rough or uneven terrain/surfaces; stooping and kneeling both indoors and outdoors.
- Strength to lift to 35 pounds.
- Driving automotive equipment to conduct inspections and work.
HAZARDS:
- Exposure to fertilizer fumes, pesticides, and other chemicals.

Based on our internal equity review process, the starting salary for this position is set at $28.18 per hour.
To allow for growth and salary progression the full hourly range is $28.18 - $38.58 .
Employees will have the opportunity to move through the posted range based on annual performance reviews and merit increases.

Position Information Under the direction of the Golf & Business Operations Supervisor, assist in the overall management of golf operations including assisting with tournament operations, planning, and conducting numerous tournaments, coordination of leagues & club memberships, assisting with youth and adult instructional programs, golf cart and driving range rentals, cashiering, and tee time reservation systems.
In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to:
- Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
- Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
- Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

- Observe applicable safety requirements, use safety equipment provided, always implement appropriate safety practices and report immediately any unsafe working conditions or hazards.
- Assist with golfer check-in and fee collection; control and manage play
- Assist with all opening and closing procedures
- Assist in managing facility tournament operations including weekly events
- Assist in tournament operations and weekly events including planning, pre-tournament contracts, post- tournament billing, promotion, course set-up, preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow up
- Set up and coordinate leagues and tournaments held at the course
- Assist in the coordination of a Meadow Park Golf Club
- Assist in Player Development programs, clinics & lessons & Youth Programs
- Assist in the inventory control of hard goods, soft goods, and special orders including ordering procedures, receiving procedures, inputting into point of sale, pricing procedures, display, and sales
- Assist in coordinating golf activities with other departments
- Assist in the management of golf cart fleet operations, including staging, daily maintenance, and upkeep
- Assist in the training of the part-time golf shop & outside service staff
- Assist in managing the daily operations of the golf course, golf services, and practice facility
- Provide an exceptional customer service experience to all guests
- Order supplies associated with the golf activities
- Oversee the tee time reservation system, monitor play, and make sure all players are accurately charged appropriate golf fees
- Perform other appropriate tasks assigned by the Golf & Business Operations Supervisor and/or Golf Player Development Coordinator
OCCASIONAL DUTIES:
Ability to work overtime as needed to meet facility needs.
Play the golf course to evaluate and maintain current knowledge and understanding of course conditions, setup, and maintenance operations and to maintain playing skills. Communicate course maintenance activities and course conditions to the customers.
In the absence of the Golf and Business Supervisor and Golf Player Development Coordinator act in a lead capacity to ensure the safe and effective day to day operation of Meadow Park Golf Course.
Perform emergency first aid and CPR as needed and according to established guidelines

Life Insurance: Provided at no cost to the employee through Unum, amount is equal to annual salary up to $275,000. Benefits will reduce at age 70.
**Retirement Plan: All employees are covered under the Public Employees' Retirement System through the Washington State Department of Retirement Services (DRS).
**Medical Coverage and Dental Coverage: Parks Tacoma pays 90% of the total cost of medical/dental coverage for employees and their dependents. If you enroll in a medical and/or dental plan and add dependents you will be required to provide documentation to show eligibility. Coverage begins the first of the month following the date of employment. Medical coverage is offered through Kaiser. Dental options include Delta Dental Service and Willamette Dental.
Health Care and Day Care Reimbursement Accounts: A benefit plan that allows you to pay for health care or dependent care expenses with "before tax" dollars.
Deferred Compensation (457 plan): Optional employee paid retirement savings plans are available through Empower, MissionSquare, and WA State Deferred Comp Program.
