OverviewNestled in the scenic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Cross Creek Golf Club is a private club located in Seneca, South Carolina, just minutes from Clemson University and beautiful Lake Keowee and Lake Hartwell. Our active membership enjoys a full calendar of tournaments, instructional programs, member events, and a vibrant club atmosphere. The surrounding area offers an outstanding quality of life with access to lakes, mountains, hiking, boating, and some of the Southeast's most desirable outdoor recreation, all while being within easy driving distance of Greenville, SC, Asheville, NC, and Atlanta, GA.
We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and service-oriented Assistant Golf Professional who is passionate about the game of golf and committed to delivering exceptional experiences for our members and guests. This position offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in every aspect of private club operations while working alongside a dedicated team in a supportive and enjoyable environment.
Experience Required
The Golf Shop Assistant aids the Head Golf Professional in the management of day-to-day golf operations of the facility. The applicant will automatically enter the role as Assistant Golf Professional if the applicant has completed their Associates or Bachelor's Degree and if PGA or LPGA certification is in progress or completed. The position is responsible for assisting the Head Golf Professional with the supervision and management of the golf operations as well as organizing and performing group golf clinics. All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and total satisfaction of all members.
The applicant must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. They must possess the ability to interact with members and staff on all levels in a professional, positive, and friendly manner. Position requires a highly professional demeanor, adaptability, flexibility and adherence to a strict level of confidentiality. Ability to comprehend and carry out instructions while working as a team player is critical. Ability to work all shifts, days, weekends, and holidays are a must. Service to club membership must be in a professional and courteous manner and daily appearance standards are mandatory.
Essential Responsibilities
Experience Required
Completion of or working towards a college degree and enrolled or completed the PGA or LPGA programs
Customer service experience needed. Looking for career minded individuals with serious intent to work and grow in the golf industry. Essential Responsibilities Specific Responsibilities - include but are not limited to:
- Assist with golfer check-in and fee collection; control and manage play
- Assist with all opening and closing procedures
- Assist in tournament operations and weekly leagues including planning, promotion, course set-up, preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow up
- Coordinate and manage our First Tee Program.
- Coordinate and manage our PGA Junior League Team
- Coordinate and manage men's, women's, and junior golf events and programs
- Assist the Head Golf professional with cart service staff
- Aid Head Golf Professional in managing golf car operation, practice facility (as applicable)
- Assist in the inventory control of hard goods, soft goods, and special orders including: ordering procedures, receiving procedures, inputting into point of sale, pricing procedures, display, and sales
- Play golf with a variety of members/guests in competitive and non-competitive situations
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times
- Maintain PGA of America or LPGA membership in good standing in an active classification
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations
- Fundamental supervisory practices and principles
- Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
- Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
- Self-motivated with desire to promote and market
- Service and member focused attitude
- Experienced in written and oral business communications
- Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies
- Experienced computer user including; Golf Genius Software, Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e. email and internet
- Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community
- Attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and business trends
- Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations
