Overview

One of the most exciting golf courses in the nation-Wicker Point Golf Club-is located on Alabama's grand Lake Martin. Experience the only Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw-designed golf course in the state. Wicker Point Golf Club is adjacent to Russell Forest on a site naturally conducive to golf along the Lake Martin shoreline. Opening for play in September 2023, the 18-hole golf course features unexpected holes designed to the natural contours, elevations and elements of the lake and land. The course will be challenging to the seasoned golfer while fun for the casual player. Each hole is memorable unto itself, accentuated by indigenous hardwoods, Alabama's long leaf pines, rambling creeks crossed by bridges, and more. The first nine carries players through stunning elevation changes amid the forest while picturesque Lake Martin highlights the vistas throughout the second nine. The course will feature luxurious Zeon Zoysia grass for approaches, tees, fairways and rough and fine-textured TifEagle Bermudagrass on the greens, accentuated by bunkers with native central Alabama sand. In addition to the native forests lining the holes, out-of-play areas will be plentiful with indigenous grasses and wildflowers. To preserve and encourage the growth of these species, Russell Lands is working in conjunction with Alabama Wildlife Federation & Claude Jenkins, a recent recipient of the National Wildlife Federation's National Conservation Leadership Award. Wicker Point Golf Club is ranked #2 by GolfDigest and #1 by GolfWeek for best in the state.

Experience Required

• 1-2 years as an Assistant Golf Professional at private club
• Either currently a PGA Class A member or actively working through the PGA Associate program

Essential Responsibilities

It is More Than a Job
We are seeking an Assistant Golf Professional that is motivated and actively seeking to become a Lead Assistant or Head Golf Professional in the next two to three years. As an Assistant Golf Professional, you will be trusted to lead, empowered to make decisions, and are expected to bring energy that helps raises the standards for the entire team.

What You Will Do
• Deliver an outstanding impressions from first engagement to final departure for every member and guest
• Lead the golf operations in absence of the Head Golf Professional
• Assist in the daily operation of the golf shop through merchandising, inventory, sales, and member service
• Be heavily involved in all tournament and event operations. You will be tasked with running at least one Member-Guest Tournament (we have two in our season) or Member-Member Tournament from start to finish such as collaborating with other departments (Golf Course Maintenance & Food and Beverage) to ensure seamless success
• Help coordinate tee sheet management, cart operations, and outside services staff
• Coordinate, teach, and lead lessons and clinics
• Represent Wicker Point Golf Club with professionalism and energy
