The Championship Marketing Operations Lead is responsible for the overall annual direction, management, and execution of championship event marketing and sales strategy, pre-registration group sales processes and ticket sales programming, to ensure the PGA of America continues to be the leader in major golf championship golf and drive revenue to the Association.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

Serve as the main point of contact for the strategy and execution of all marketing and ticket sales activities for spectator championships.

Work collaboratively to execute new strategies with respective championship, digital/social, technology, creative services and communication teammates, both internal and external, ensuring compliance with PGA of America guidelines and expectations are met or exceeded.

Work alongside Championship Directors to develop, implement, and track marketing and promotional campaigns for each spectator championship. 

Develop and maintain sales strategy, email planning and programming playbooks and data analysis. 

Define and track deliverables by mapping the customer journey and marketing touch-points. Define a marketing calendar for all spectator championships and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to report against.

Institute best practices for development and activation of programs to enhance the PGA consumer database, sales, and social media followers, including, but not limited to, local corporate and industry partnerships (including PGA Sections, visitor bureaus and other sporting leagues and events).

Create and execute a championship loyalty program compliance with PGA of America guidelines.

Develop programming for multi-channel platform sales to create paths for additional sales on external third-party sites, such as Google and travel and leisure platforms. 

Manage official ticket exchange partner (On Location Experiences) deliverables, including timeline and communications to ensure successful integration and presence with spectator championships consumer base.

Support championships teams with integrated omni-channel marketing communications planning, including coordination of local and national advertising, public relations, email, and digital marketing agencies to meet or exceed event revenue goals with an emphasis on digital platforms and strategy.

Develop and execute communication strategies to engage ticket holders, such as digital communications to keep attendees informed and engaged on all aspects of the event including procedures, schedules, spectator information, and on-site amenities.

Maintain and provide Director of Championship Ticketing and each event Championship Director with regular updates on promotions plans, activations, ticket sales, etc.

Represent the Championship in a professional and knowledgeable manner at all times when networking, liaising, and working alongside internal and external representatives to achieve the marketing, sales, and CRM goals for the event.

Assist with other areas of event ticketing and access control operations, such as box office management, venue operations oversight, and providing spectator assistance, as needed.

This position will work with each Championship Director to achieve the ticket sales revenue goals and to ensure that all advertising and promotional spending limits are not exceeded and will follow all financial policies established by The PGA of America.



Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Business Administration or related major. 

Four years marketing, sales  and promotions experience.  Experience in using and managing social media, including blogs, wikis, social networks, forums, and/or podcasts.


Must have knowledge of sales and marketing strategies.  Must have the ability to identify and execute effective sales and marketing strategies.  Knowledge of golf tournaments is critical. Knowledge of Google Workspace (Drive, Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Slides) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). 

Ability to travel for up to 15%.  Ability stand for extended periods of time during events.
